Corn Cross is back...! Double the event tracks, double the days, double the rad.

After a year hiatus, our classic CX race is back: the 13th season (and 18th??! edition?) of Corn Cross p/b Sellwood Cycle Repair & Team S&M returns to Liepold Farms on Sunday September 13th.

Registration is now open at OBRA.org!

And! What could be better than just one day of racing at the Farm? How about TWO days of racing!

Saturday 9/12 will be the second annual Trusty Switchblade “Kornmesse,” AKA longer form dirt racing on some parallel—but not identical—tracks out at Liepold Farms. Check out all of their info here, and read on below for our race day information.

As always, we are deeply grateful for our OBRA community and love putting on challenging racing events that bring us all closer together. Thank you for your support! And please reach out with any questions.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our iconic, course-specific yellow flyover remains a centerpiece of our traditional Corn Cross course with racers going both under and over it every lap. The hillside—and the stairs built into it—that looms adjacent to Richey Road remain a critical linchpin for race-deciding moments. Four lanes link side-by-side-by-side flanking the pit, creating enjoyable, entrancing visual mayhem for any spectator. And of course: the course’s namesake is the farm’s corn maze, an adventure coiling its way through the middle of the lap, with twisting corners allowing a savvy rider a chance to visually slip away before exiting back to the flowing, sunflower-lined farm lanes of Liepold Farms. While this is decidedly a cyclocross race, and we sure love CX bikes, any bike with a semi textured 33mm+ tire will do great here—bring your gravel bike, your hybrid, your mountain bike, and come have some fun.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTES:

  • Helmets are mandatory at all OBRA-sanctioned races—wear it any time you are on your bike.

  • Be courteous to other riders on and off the course, and especially when passing/lapping slower riders. Be patient and wait until there is enough room to pass. Before passing, call out audibly and kindly with your intent and leave plenty of room. Be extra careful around junior riders.

  • Race honestly and within your limits. Please make use of pre-ride time slots to practice and familiarize yourself with the course in full. If you can’t pre-ride, ride a bit more conservatively on the first lap and go harder on the next lap.

  • OBRA and the organizers of this race do not provide insurance coverage for injuries that occur at the race. The costs related to those injuries are the responsibility of the individual participants. Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry for any reason.
